Tarragona and Valls sign an agreement to promote the 29th Concurs de Castells and the Museu Casteller de Catalunya jointly

MCC will create a new area to explain the history of the Concurs de Castells, while the latter will open a new space in the Fan Zone at the TAP, where attendees will enjoy the Enxaneta 360º

The mayors of Tarragona and Valls, Rubén Viñuales and Dolors Farré respectively, signed a collaboration agreement to promote the 29th Concurs de Castells and Món Casteller-Museu Casteller de Catalunya (MCC) jointly.

The agreement consists of the dissemination of Concurs de Castells inside the MCC thanks to a new area that will allow users to learn about the history and the current state of the Concurs, while allowing the brand Concurs de Castells to appear in different points of the museum located in Valls.

Thanks to the agreement, a new temporary exhibition about the Concurs de Castells will be held in the Museu Casteller, as well as conferences and informative lectures by experts. Besides this, the agreement will also allow the creation of an audio-visual experience, with the projection of Concurs de Castells videos at the MCC.

VR glasses and a castells-themed climbing wall

Museu Casteller will host a number of promoting areas due to the 29th Concurs de Castells. One of the promotions will be visible on the actual tickets for the competition, as these will allow users to enjoy a “buy 1, get 1 free” at the Museu Casteller. A spot located at the Fan Zone inside the Tarraco Arena Plaça (TAP) ─the venue where the 2 main events of the Concurs de Castells will take place, on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th of October─ will also allow users to enjoy a VR experience known as Enxaneta 360º.

During the main weekend of Concurs de Castells, children will also enjoy an 8-metre bouncy castle, which has been designed to resemble a climbing castell ─a new attraction by Ajuntament de Valls that promotes the MCC and the capital city of Alt Camp─.

The agreement between the 2 councils also includes joint promotions in advertising spaces, media and both Concurs de Castells and Museu Casteller de Catalunya social media. In this sense, the MCC will give tickets and VR experiences to the winners of the different competitions Concurs de Castells will post in social media.

The mayor of Tarragona, Rubén Viñuales, was happy about the fact that “2 castells cities, as are Valls and Tarragona, are now joining their efforts to promote castells jointly” and said that “during the main weekend of the Concurs, Museu Casteller and Valls will be very present in TAP”. Viñuales was “very pleased about the agreement” and reiterated that “these little details are part of the will to make the largest castells show in the world even more relevant”.

On the other hand, the mayor of Valls, Dolors Farré, said that “the Museu is the home of all castellers and castelleres, of every colla in the country” and also stressed that “the Concurs, as a great event in the castell world, must be present in the Museu”. Farré ended by saying that “the agreement between Tarragona and Valls to promote the Concurs and the Museu jointly is great news, a first step that will certainly take us even further in the future”.
