The Torredembarra and the Berguedà colles take on the first day event “ex aequo” after completing the 7de7, 5de7 and 4de7a

The Nois de la Torre and the Castellers de Berga ended in first place “ex aequo” in the Torredembarra event of the Concurs de Castells held on Sunday, the 25th of September, at Pavelló Sant Jordi in Torredembarra. Both colles completed the two best performances of the day, with 7de7, 5de7 and 4de7a.

The cap de colla of the Nois de la Torre, Lluís Batet, was very happy with this first place. “We are really happy. It has been a very hard season, we have missed a lot of colleagues,” said Batet. "What we have achieved here is amazing and I’d like to congratulate the group for achieving it," he stated.

The cap de colla of the Castellers de Berga, Alba Cruanyes, said: "We are getting a lot on a social scale, but also at a casteller level, due to the large number of people we have mobilised and the way we have completed the castells". Cruanyes has assured that "the colla has put a lot of pressure on us and, thanks to this, we have achieved this first place “ex aequo” with the Nois de la Torre."

The Castellers de Esparreguera completed the podium of the day, with a 4de7a, 5de7 and 3de7a. Their cap de colla, Josep Cercuns, pointed out that their objective was "to complete the 3 castells and take 150 people to Torredembarra", and also expressed satisfaction at having achieved both objectives.

The two colles that made it to the final of the Concurs de Gralles are the Castellers de Mollet and the Castellers d'Altafulla.

In total, 39 medical assistances were registered, 9 of which were referred to the Hospital de Santa Tecla in Tarragona.

The Consellera de Cultura de l’Ajuntament de Tarragona, Inés Solé, congratulated the 3 winning colles of the event and thanked the Ajuntament de Torredembarra for “the implementation of the devices necessary to make this event possible. The largest castells show in the world starts here.” Solé highlighted the casteller level of the participating colles after 2 years of no activity due to the pandemic.

On the other hand, the Consellera de Cultura de l’Ajuntament de Torredembarra, Núria Batet, showed her satisfaction with the development of the event and positively valued the alternative location of the arena, due to the rain, which meant "avoiding any risks during these days of terrible weather conditions” in the Camp de Tarragona.
