Event Protocol

I. Objective: The event protocol determines the rules related to the building of the towers that the Tarragona Human Tower Competition Jury has to apply when scoring the constructions, in accordance with section 2 of article 24 of the Tarragona Human Tower Competition Regulations.
II. Starting the tower: It is considered that the construction starts going up and, therefore, it cannot be dismantled without counting as an attempt, in the following cases:

When the tower building starts the gralles (primitive oboe instruments) also start to play. Before starting to raise the tower; if a team builds a tier on top of the ground level base, totally or partially, and immediately dismantles it, this is considered a foot or base dismantling. A team can only dismantle at the foot of the tower once in the same round.
II-2. Special regulation related to building a tower with a pillar in the centre: In structures with a pillar in the centre all the team members taking part in the structure, except the enxaneta ( child that reaches the top of the tower), have to reach their positions climbing up the pillar itself, never using the structure. If any team member does not reach his/her position in the way set out in this point then the construction will considered as an attempt.
III. Tower carregat (the tower reaches the top but falls on dismantling): A construction is considered as carregat in the following cases:

A construction that is built but not completed is considered as an attempt or a try if it finally falls, and a dismantled attempt if it can be dismantled without falling down.
IV. Position of the “ acotxador” ( Person that joins the parts of the tower so that the enxaneta can cross over): In the case of towers different from pillars, the acotxador has to place his/her feet in such a way that each one is on top the shoulder of a different twos. If the position of the acotxador is incorrect, this does not affect the validity of the tower, however, it implies lower points compared to a tower of the same type that is correct. In any case, the tower is considered as an attempt when the acotxador has not placed at least one foot in the correct position.

V. The aleta ( The wing): For a construction to be considered correctly carregat, the enxaneta has to make a “wing” The wing consists of the enxaneta clearly raising his/her arm ( like flapping a wing) on completing the tower. Not making a wing does not affect the validity of the tower, however, it implies lower points compared to a tower of the same type in which it is carried out correctly.

VI. Decent of the enxaneta and the acotxador: The enxaneta and the acotxador have to carry out the decent in the following ways:

If the enxaneta or the acotxador does not climb down correctly it does affect the validity of the tower, however, it implies lower points compared to a tower of the same type in which it is carried out correctly.
VII. Tower descarregat ( tower is built to the top and then completely dismantled): A construction is considered to be dismantled when all the members of the tier who, with their accent, indicate the start of the tower, climb down to the pinya ( ground base) level, to the folre, the manilles or the puntals, in each case.
If one or more members break away from the trunk of the tower then it is only considered as carregat. Breaking away is understood to be a fall from a tier superior to the one that determines the start of the tower as established in section II, to the base of the tower support, whether the pinya, the folre, the manillas and the puntals, in each case.
VIII. Attempts allowed: A team cannot try to make a construction in the following cases:

In any case, the structures called; without folre or without manilles are compatible in the same performance with identical structures that have a different base configuration or a different height.
